Oklahoma State has picked up yet another local talent for the 2024 recruiting class. Earlier this week, quarterback Garret Wilson from Oklahoma Christian (Edmond) committed to the team as a preferred walk-on. Now, the Cowboys have picked up another local talent as a preferred walk-on.

This time around, it's Tonkawa defensive lineman Dominic Grein entering the mix for the Cowboys, also as a preferred walk-on. The defensive end is 6-foot-6, 215 pounds, making him an intriguing prospect for the Cowboys. Under the weight program, he'll be able to fill into his frame, making him an interesting player on the defensive line.

Grein was the District A-5 Defensive MVP his senior season, as he tallied 104 tackles, 28 sacks, 27 defensive hurries and 29 tackles for loss. He finished his career with 332 tackles and 76 tackles for loss.

Oklahoma State offered Grein as a preferred walk-on in November of 2023. You can find his highlights below.

Grein joins the Cowboys' defense which saw a big improvement over the past season. Bryan Nardo was in his first season as the defensive coordinator, and he established a 3-3-5 defensive scheme. Things didn't go so well at first, as tackling was an issue and there were some blown coverages and assignments. Once those things were cleaned up, the defense showed some real promise.

As is well known, the Cowboys are a program built on developing talent, so offering preferred walk-ons to join the program could be beneficial long-term, especially for someone like Grein who has the potential to grow into a physical player on the line.

In Oklahoma State's defense, defensive playmakers have been able to shine, as was seen with Collin Oliver and his late-season moments. Watching these recruits join the program and develop over time will be exciting to watch as the Cowboys are building nicely as the new era of the Big 12 is here.
