Paul Finebaum has not been the biggest fan of the Michigan Wolverines this season. He has been highly critical of the sign-stealing scandal and how Michigan has responded to it. He doesn’t like that they are trying to play the victim. After their huge victory over Ohio State, the program felt some vindication and Finebaum is baffled by this response.

Paul Finebaum Baffled By Michigan Wolverines Fan Base

Finebaum doesn’t understand how this victory vindicates Jim Harbaugh or the program.

“I think it’s great. It was a game we all wanted and we saw, but what I don’t understand is the reaction to The Game. Everything has been said about what happened, but tell me this, how did Michigan, a favorite at home, beating Ohio State vindicate Jim Harbaugh, as I’ve heard and as you’ve heard from tens of thousands of Michigan fans in the most cruel, crass, and obscene manner?”

“I think it was a phenomenal win but I don’t understand the reaction and that’s what I pose to you as we begin on Sunday morning.”

The vindication likely comes from the idea that Michigan was only beating Ohio State because they were stealing signs only for them to come out and win anyway. Still, Finebaum’s take is understandable.

Michigan Marches On

A lot of people were cheering against the Wolverines simply because they wanted this to go away. If Michigan loses, they are out of the College Football Playoff and we can move on. Now, they will likely be one of the final four teams. With no clear frontrunner, they might even be in line for a national championship. This is probably not what Finebaum and other college football people want to happen.

Paul Finebaum acknowledged that this was a good win for the players but just doesn’t like the response from fans. Michigan now prepares for the Big Ten Championship game against Iowa.
