Penn State has announced its uniform combinations for the Peach Bowl.

The team will wear its home “Basic Blues” for the game against Ole Miss scheduled for Dec. 30 at noon in Atlanta.

This makes sense since Penn State is the higher-ranked squad, coming in at No. 10. Ole Miss is No. 11.

PSU has a fairly even bowl game uniform split in the James Franklin era. In the eight bowls Penn State’s played under Franklin, the team has worn its home uniforms five times and the road whites the other three. Penn State’s 3-2 in the Basic Blues, with wins over Boston College (2014 Pinstripe Bowl), Washington (2017 Fiesta Bowl) and Memphis (2019 Cotton Bowl) and losses to USC (2016 Rose Bowl) and Kentucky (2018 Citrus Bowl).

The most recent time Penn State wore blue for a bowl game was that Cotton Bowl win in 2019.

In a wild game, Penn State survived Memphis with a 53-39 win.

The contest is best remembered for Journey Brown putting on a show. Brown rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Sadly, it would end up being his last college game. Brown had to medically retire from football the following year.

It appears that Penn State will be close to full-strength for the game.

More than two weeks after the bowl game announcement, only defensive end Chop Robinson has opted out. Other players, such as tight end Theo Johnson, RT Caedan Wallace and CB/PR Daequan Hardy have announced that they’ll be declaring for the draft but playing in the game.

Other key Penn State players Olu Fashanu, Kalen King and Johnny Dixon haven’t made an official announcement on their status yet.
