Chop Robinson, EDGE, Penn State
Height/Weight: 6-3, 254
Age: 21.3
Strengths
- Get-Off: Elite Quickness to generate cat like movements that pounce him into the pocket
- Hand usage: Twitchy hands that can swipe and dip or strong mits to stack and shed
- Bend: Uncanny ability to contort his body around the pocket. Supreme ankle flexion and hip fluidity
Areas of Improvement-Concerns
- Power: Can be stonewalled at the point of attack
- Counter Moves: Needs to round out his pass rush plan. Teams will have chip help and c-setting tackles mitigate his speed and get-off
- Run Defense: Would like to see more production as a tackler. Ability to set edges and chase backside runs is evident but production wasn’t
Evaluation:
Robinson might be the most athletically gifted pass rushers in his draft class. With elite get-off, bend and pure speed, he is more reminiscent of a defensive back when examining his testing numbers (4.4 40, 1.54 10). Still raw in his development, Robinson lacks some of the technique and strength based attributes to be an everyday player in the NFL, but a little time on task could turn him into a double digit sack getter for a decade plus in the league.
