This week, 247 Sports released its rankings of the top 32 players in college football ahead of the 2023 season, which is just a few months away. One standout on the list is Penn State football star offensive tackle, Olu Fashanu , who was ranked as the 7th best player in the game. Despite being one of the top-ranked tackles in the nation, Fashanu is heading into his redshirt junior season with the Penn State Nittany Lions. He could have easily entered the NFL Draft, which starts tonight, but he decided to stay and help Penn State compete for this year’s Big Ten title.

Penn State football star Olu Fashanu ranked a top 10 player in college football

As per 247 Sports, Penn State football’s Olu Fashanu is one of the top players in the country, with only a few others surpassing his talent. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound offensive tackle from Walford, MD, is a crucial component of Penn State’s young yet skilled offense. Drew Allar even goes so far as to say that the Nittany Lions’ success hinges on Fashanu’s performance both on and off the football field.

“Obviously, everybody knows what type of player he is, but I think he is a better person off the field, really … Olu is a great guy, I love being around him; from the time I stepped on campus he has been always really nice to me,” Allar said.

“I think we really grew close together towards the end of last year, especially that Rose Bowl trip — we were hanging out a lot out there (in California). You know, he is a great guy to have on the team; you can never have too many guys like Olu on the team, not even for the player he is, just the teammate he is.”

Olu Fashanu played a pivotal role in Penn State’s victorious 2022 Rose Bowl season, as the team finished with an 11-2 record. Fashanu was one of the best players in college football last season, earning All-Big Ten and All-American honors for his exceptional performance. His contributions were instrumental in helping the Nittany Lions’ high-powered offense regain its reputation as a dominant force in the game.

What does 247 Sports have to say about Fashanu?

Here is what 247 says about Penn State football star Olu Fashanu, and their reasoning as to his top 10 ranking.

“Football games are won in the trenches, and no offensive lineman in college football is better than Fashanu. Arguably, he would have been the top offensive lineman taken in this year’s draft. Fashanu shocked the NFL when he opted to return to Penn State.”
