Purdue football has added its first player to the 2024 season during the Spring transfer portal window, as former Mississippi State punter Keelan Crimmins committed.

A native of Australia, Crimmins is expected to be on campus after the spring semester and is expected to take over the punting duties following the departure of Jack Ansell. A season ago, Ansell booted an average of 40.7 yards on 60 punts.

Crimmins made the announcement on social media, thanking Purdue football coach Ryan Walters for the offer.

“Can’t wait to see what long snapper jumps in the portal to join me and this very talented specialist room,” Crimmins posted on X.

With his arrival, Crimmins will be only the second punter on the roster for Purdue football, joining redshirt-sophomore, Bennett Boehnlein. Boehnlein has seen no action during his career with the Boilermakers.

Crimmins was the third ranked punter out of Prokick Australia and a former cricket and Australian rules football player. Last year, he played in 12 games for Mississippi State, booting 49 times for just under 41 yards a punt. He managed to drop 13 punts inside the 20-yard line and had nine returned.

Purdue football opens the 2024 season at home against Indiana State on Aug. 31.
