Former Purdue football wide receiver TJ Sheffield has found a new home.

After hitting the transfer portal and announcing his commitment to Big Ten rival Michigan State last December. However, the former Purdue football player decommitted from the Spartans and now has found a new college home at Connecticut. He will be a sixth year player for the Huskies.

Sheffield redshirted in his first season in West Lafayette and didn’t see much time in his second year before bursting onto the scene for Purdue football.

Last season, Sheffield caught 32 passes for 381 yards and two touchdowns in his lone season with Purdue football coach Ryan Walters. He experienced huge success in 2022, as he reeled in a career high 46 passes for a career high 480 yards.

In 2021, Sheffield was charged after biting a paramedic who was trying to assist him after receiving a 911 call for help. The charge would later be dismissed.

Sheffield is one of 18 transfer players for UConn.

Purdue opens the season Aug. 31 at home against Indiana State.
