Report: Jim Harbaugh hasn't 'officially' interviewed for NFL jobs yet

The college and NFL communities were surprised to learn earlier this month that Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh could have "real" interest in returning to pro football and, specifically, in potentially taking over as the head man for the Las Vegas Raiders or Chicago Bears.

It seems Harbaugh isn't in too much of a hurry to make such a move.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio reported Friday that Harbaugh, who previously guided the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl before accepting the Michigan gig, has not yet officially had an interview with any NFL franchise. League rules require clubs to report such discussions.

Florio adds that it's possible Harbaugh has completed "off the books" talks with a franchise owner, or that he's merely using such rumblings in an attempt to earn a bigger and better deal from his current employer.

The Athletic's Bruce Feldman reported Harbaugh is friends with Raiders owner Mark Davis.

It's worth noting that Harbaugh was linked with the Raiders before the club clinched a playoff berth under interim coach Rich Bisaccia, who took over after former coach Jon Gruden resigned in disgrace in October. However, ESPN's Adam Schefter recently said Bisaccia believes he could be shown the door shortly after the Raiders are eliminated from the postseason tournament.

That situation could change, of course, if Las Vegas goes on to win the Super Bowl.

The Raiders play at the Cincinnati Bengals in a wild-card matchup on Saturday afternoon.
