Report: MAC presidents will vote Friday on fall football season

With the Big Ten Conference returning to action, other conferences are beginning to re-evaluate their fall football seasons.

According to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg, Mid-American Conference presidents will meet Friday and vote on whether to have a fall football season, which likely would be six games long.

The league's presidents also met Tuesday but didn't hold a vote on the season. If a season is held, it reportedly would most likely begin on Oct. 24. In August, the MAC became the first FBS league to postpone the fall football season because of concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

The MAC is exploring the option for daily rapid antigen testing, which also is being used by the Pac-12 and Big Ten. The cost of the testing is the major sticking point for the MAC.

Big Ten presidents decided earlier this month to reinstate the football season. The Pac-12 and Mountain West conferences also are scheduled to vote this week on a potential fall football season.
