Report: Michigan OC Josh Gattis accepting same position with Miami Hurricanes

Michigan Wolverines offensive coordinator Josh Gattis, who earned the 2021 Broyles Award as the top college football assistant coach, is leaving to become the offensive coordinator of the Miami Hurricanes, according to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.

Gattis, 38, is a rising star in the coaching ranks who spent the last three seasons with the Wolverines, helping the team improve to the 16th best scoring offense in 2021. No team allowed fewer tackles for loss than Michigan and the team finished second in the nation in plays that gained 50 yards or more.

Prior to joining Michigan, Gattis spent one year as co-offensive coordinator at Alabama in 2018. Before that, he spent four seasons with Penn State as passing game coordinator.

In December, Football Scoop reported Gattis interviewed to become the next head coach of the Virginia Cavaliers before the university landed on former Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott instead.

At Miami, Gattis will join the coaching staff of Mario Cristobal, who was hired by the Hurricanes in December. Miami finished top 25 in both total offense and scoring offense in 2021.
