Report: NCAA to approve six-week calendar for ramp-up to football season

The NCAA hopes to begin the college football season on time, and in order to do that, it reportedly got a plan in place.

The organization is set to approve a six-week calendar in order to begin the 2020 CFB season on time, according to Longhorns Wire. Teams will be allowed to begin summer activities on July 13 with the first day of practice being on Aug. 7.

When the season finally begins, there will be no differences from a normal football season and teams will be allowed to practice for up to 20 hours per week.

The NCAA's plan is designed to protect its students and coaches once the season finally begins, but this is just one idea at the moment and various options still are being discussed.

Right now there have been no discussions on if fans will be allowed to attend games amid the coronavirus pandemic, but attendance restrictions could be limited by conference.

Schools are allowed to have athletes back on June 1 and many schools will begin voluntary workouts by June 15.
