The Ohio State Buckeyes appear to be pursuing one of the more experienced quarterbacks still available in the transfer portal.

According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, the Buckeyes will host former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard for a visit in the coming days. Howard has already visited USC and Miami and is considering entering the NFL Draft.

The Buckeyes need a quarterback with Kyle McCord, last year’s starter, entering the transfer portal. Howard only has one remaining year of eligibility, so he would be a short-term fix, but that sort of experience fits Ohio State at the moment. At least one other school appears to be making a serious push to land him, though.

Throughout his four-year Kansas State career, Howard completed 58.5 percent of his pass attempts for 5,787 yards, 48 touchdowns and 25 interceptions, while rushing for 921 yards and 19 touchdowns. He led the Wildcats to a Big 12 title in 2022.
