The Texas Longhorns finished the regular season with an 11-1 record. They defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys in their last Big-12 Conference Championship appearance and lost to the Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl.
They had one of the best offenses in all of college football. They ranked 17th in passing yards per game with 289.1, 9th in total yards per game with 477.5, and 15th in points per game with 35.8.
The team is looking to find a replacement for their elite tight end, Ja’Tavion Sanders, who declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
After two weeks of looking, they found Sanders’ replacement in the transfer portal.

Amari Niblack announced on Instagram last night that he will be transferring to Texas. We will be assessing his tenure with Alabama. But first, we will be reviewing 247Sports’ evaluation of Niblack when he was in high school.
247Sports gave Niblack a positive evaluation in high school.
Before Amari Niblack stepped foot on a college football field, 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins gave him a positive evaluation and said he had NFL upside:
“A well-built athlete with some position ambiguity that has lined up primarily at tight end throughout much of his high school career. First made a name for himself on the offseason camp circuit where he simply looked like a man amongst boys with his defined muscle and ramped up play speed. Followed that up with a strong senior campaign in which he totaled over 650 yards receiving while playing in the Sunshine State’s highest classification. Competitive not only at the catch point, but after the catch as he will weave through traffic and fight for additional yardage. No verified vertical jump on record, but plays above defenders and knows how to box them out, which likely stems from his basketball background. Doesn’t have much, if any, experience as an in-line blocker, but has shown on tape that he will lower his shoulder and try to open up lanes for his teammates. Tested well at multiple college camps, but always room to get a little more explosive. Could eventually make the transition to the defensive side of the ball as a stand-up pass rusher, but ceiling seems to ultimately be the highest as an H-back or move tight end in a modern spread offense. NFL upside.”
He committed to Alabama in 2021.
Amari Niblack committed to Alabama as a four-star recruit for the 2021 season. Niblack appeared in ten games in 2021 and had one reception for 15 yards and one touchdown.
Niblack appeared in every game in 2022 and had 20 receptions for 327 yards and four touchdowns.
Niblack entered the transfer portal due to the retirement of Nick Saban.
