TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The roster turnover continues.

On Tuesday, Alabama linebacker Kendrick Blackshire announced his transfer commitment to Texas, becoming the second Crimson Tide player to transfer to the Longhorns, joining wide receiver Isaiah Bond.

Blackshire, a former four-star recruit from Duncanville, Texas, tallied 16 total tackles as a junior for the Crimson Tide.

Coming out of high school, Blackshire was the No. 168 player overall and the No. 21 linebacker in the country, committing to Alabama early under current Texas assistant Jeff Banks during the COVID recruiting season.

As players continue to evaluate their standing, new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer will be tasked with the continued recruitment of his own roster while navigating the high school ranks.

"When it comes to recruiting–and I could go on and on about how we will recruit– I understand it's the lifeblood of the program," DeBoer said in his introductory press conference. "We could have great coaches, but the guys on the field are the ones that make the plays. A relentless attitude, starting with, first and foremost, myself and then leading to our staff is what it's going to take to be the best of the best here with the tough competition here in the SEC and to win a national championship. I'm looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and going to work."
