After having five players taken in the first round of the NFL draft a year ago, the Bulldogs are closing in on having several players taken on day one this year as well. One of the players who is being projected as a potential first-round pick is cornerback Kelee Ringo.
Ringo was one of many participants at the NFL combine for the Bulldogs and was quite impressive. He posted an official 4.36 time in the 40-yard event, and his 10-yard split was 1.54 seconds. The former Georgia cornerback also carries tremendous size for a defensive back as he measured in at 6-2 and 207 pounds with 31 1/4" arms.
He has all of the tools in the world to be successful at the next level, but on top of the eye-popping measurables, Ringo has also been training with former NFL star cornerback Richard Sherman since the conclusion of the 2022 college football season. In fact, the Seattle Seahawk legend went on to provide quite the comparison as to who Ringo reminds him of.
Patrick Peterson is currently with the Pittsburgh Steelers and has been in the league since 2011. Over his career, he has made the 1st team All-Pro list twice, is an eight-time Pro bowler, and made the NFL's 2010s All-Decade team. Peterson has had a very successful career at the professional level, which makes Sherman's comparison of Ringo that much more impressive.
Sherman isn't the only person who sees shades of Peterson's game in Ringo either. Brooks Austin, the lead editor for Dawgs Daily, saw the same thing when Ringo was coming out of high school
During his two years as a starter for Georgia, Ringo piled up 76 total tackles, three tackles for loss and four interceptions. He was one of the more valuable pieces on one of the best defenses in the country for the past two seasons and will look to continue his success in the NFL.
CBS recently predicted Ringo to go in the first round of the draft to the Minnesota Vikings with the 23rd overall pick. Oddly enough, Peterson recently spent two seasons with the Vikings. Ringo has done all of the right things to make himself worthy of a first-round pick, now it's just a matter of seeing if it actually comes to fruition.
