USC Trojans wide receiver Brenden Rice (2) Jason Parkhurst-USA TODAY Sports

Jerry Rice’s son Brenden is looking to continue the family legacy in the NFL.

The USC wide receiver announced Friday that he intends to declare for the NFL Draft and forego his one remaining season of eligibility. He thanked USC for “taking me in” as part of the announcement.

Rice is not as highly touted as his father, but he does figure as a legitimate draft prospect. NFL Draft scouting website NFL Draft Buzz rates him as the No. 17 wide receiver in the draft class and praises him for his size and hands. That might be enough to give him a shot at getting drafted on day three or later.

Rice started his career at Colorado before transferring to USC before the 2022 season. He had his best season in 2023, catching 45 passes for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns.
