It's been a busy day for Indiana football in the transfer portal.

After adding Clemson wide receiver E.J. Williams and Wake Forest running back Christian Turner, Stanford cornerback Nicolas Toomer became the Hoosiers' third transfer pickup of the day.

Toomer announced his decision to join Indiana via Twitter on Friday.

Toomer spent the last four seasons at Stanford, and he has two years of remaining eligibility. After appearing in only one game during the 2019 and 2020 seasons, Toomer played in nine games with three starts in 2021. He made 22 total tackles, one tackle for loss and three pass breakups. Toomer played in 11 of Stanford's 12 games in 2022 in a reserve role, making seven tackles and two pass breakups.

Stanford recruited Toomer out of Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, Ga., a southwest suburb of Atlanta. He was named to the all-region defensive first team twice in high school, intercepting 16 passes over four seasons. Toomer also ran track at Sandy Creek and was a state champion in the 400-meter, 4x400-meter relay and triple jump.

ESPN rated Toomer as a three-star recruit and the No. 62 cornerback in the class of 2019. He chose Stanford over offers from Cincinnati, Indiana, Minnesota, Northwestern, Pittsburgh, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and others.

At 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Toomer joins an Indiana cornerback room that lost its top two players, Tiawan Mullen and Jaylin Williams
