The Pittsburgh Steelers are hosting Notre Dame tackle Blake Fisher for a pre-draft visit on Wednesday. Fisher is the second middle-round tackle that they are scouting with one of their 30 pre-draft visits, and the other was Pitt’s offensive tackle, Matt Goncalves. Of course, they have met with a slew of first-round offensive tackles as well, with Amarius Mims, Taliese Fuaga, and Troy Fautanu all coming to Pittsburgh for pre-draft visits.

Fisher played at right tackle for the Fighting Irish and put up some impressive tape across from Joe Alt. He is young but has lots of raw upside that could be molded, and certainly, he could end up starting at some point in his rookie season. Regardless, Fisher is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound tackle with 34 3/8-inch arms, which all check off the boxes that the Steelers like at that position.

An explosive and laterally athletic player, Fisher plays with more finesse than power, but he could thrive in the Arthur Smith scheme by working in space. He plays a little wild at times, and that will need to be controlled with his technique, which is why he is thought of as a mid-round prospect rather than someone who will go earlier. He would be an ideal target for the team at their 84th overall selection.

Fisher formally met with the Steelers at the NFL Combine, so this is not the first inkling of their interest in him. But it is starting to appear at least that the team is jumping into the tank of scouting some of these mid-round tackle prospects. And Fisher checks many of the boxes that they would like from their tackles.
