UTSA Make Up For Turnovers
Frank Harris and the Roadrunners' offense didn't get the game going as they wished. Harris threw two interceptions in the first quarter, with one being taken all the way back for a touchdown. It seemed like a long night was ahead for UTSA.
The Roadrunners' offense picked things up following the two interceptions and would end up going into the half leading, 20-17. Harris threw for 153 yards, one touchdown and completed 18 of his 24 passes.
After running back Robert Henry ran in for the Roadrunners' first touchdown of the night, the Florida Atlantic Owls scored a field goal. Then, FAU defensive lineman Latrell Jean picked off Harris and added six points, along with the extra point, to give the Owls a 10-7 lead.
In the second quarter, UTSA had back-to-back scoring drives. First, a field goal to tie the game at ten 10-10. Then, Frank Harris drove the Roadrunners down the field to end the drive with a 10-yard pass to wide receiver Willie McCoy for the touchdown that gave UTSA the 17-10 lead. The Roadrunners were able to add on three more points before entering halftime leading, 20-10.
Owls offense unable to move the ball
Throughout most of the game, the Florida Atlantic Owls were unable to move the ball. Being limited to only 22 rushing yards in the first half and 83 passing yards, the Owls' only touchdown came on a pick six.
All night, the FAU offense struggled to convert on third down, ending the night converting four of 14 third downs. The Owls were also dominated when it came to time of possession. UTSA finished the night at 35:33 while the Owls were at 24:27.
In the second half, the Owls had a total of 19 yards of offense - 11 rushing yards and eight passing yards. Towards the end of the third quarter, Richardson was sacked in the UTSA end zone which gave the Roadrunners two more points.
FAU's Daniel Richardson ended the night completing 17 of 32 passes, throwing for 126 yards and two interceptions. The Owls quarterback was sacked a total of four times throughout the night.
Roadrunners run away to a 3-0 AAC record
After going into the half with a 20-10 lead, UTSA did not look back. In the third quarter, Harris threw a 42-yard pass to receiver Tykee Ogle-Kellogg, Ogle-Kellogg's fourth touchdown of the season. UTSA led, 27-10.
UTSA ended up winning by a final score of 29-10. Frank Harris ended the night throwing for 261 yards, two touchdowns, two interceptions, and completed 26 of 35 passes.
The Roadrunners' final touchdown of the night came on a six-yard rush by redshirt sophomore Rocko Griffin to give UTSA a 36-10 lead. The Roadrunners would finish the night with a combined 176 rushing yards.
The Roadrunners are now 4-3 on the season and 3-0 amongst the conference while Florida Atlantic drop to 3-4 and 2-1 in conference play.
