Tennessee's Jalin Hyatt beats Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. for 2022 Biletnikoff Award

The Biletnikoff Award goes to the best receiver, regardless of position, in FBS football. That's just a way of saying that it's not an award only for wide receivers, though this season three wide receivers, Jalin Hyatt of Tennessee, Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State, and Iowa State's Xavier Hutchinson, were up for the award.

Those three were clearly the best wideouts in college football and each player had a claim to the award. In the end, an undoubtedly tight race ended up going in favor of Hyatt — who had a tremendous season.

In all honesty, though Hutchinson had a stellar year with 107 catches for 1,171 yards and six touchdowns, this award was going to come down to Harrison Jr. — son of NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison — and Hyatt.

Harrison Jr. played in all 12 games for OSU, notching 72 catches for 1,157 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 12.1 yards per catch.

Hyatt also played in 12 games, and he likely beat out Harrison Jr. because of his touchdown count. He caught 67 passes for 1,267 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Notably, Hyatt caught an incredible five touchdown passes against the then-No. 3 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide in a 52-49 Tennessee win. He also had 207 yards in that contest.

Hyatt had five multi-touchdown games and four games with 100-plus receiving yards, not counting the 200-plus he put up against Alabama.
