Texas Longhorns QB Hudson Card is transferring

Hudson Card filled in admirably for superstar freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers at times this season for the Texas Longhorns.

With Ewers — the former No. 1 recruit in the nation — and Arch Manning — the current No. 1 recruit in the nation — set to do battle this offseason for the starting gig at Texas in 2023 and beyond, Card has seemingly seen the writing on the wall.

Either Ewers or Manning will be "the guy" for Texas moving forward. As such, Card has smartly decided to enter the transfer portal.

247Sports believes that Card will have several suitors. They put together a list that includes TCU, Kentucky, and Oklahoma State. ESPN's Pete Thamel passes along the fact that Card wants to end up at a Power 5 school that has a winning football program, so all three of those programs could make sense.

Card is a former 4-star recruit who stepped up big for the Longhorns when Ewers was injured. He played a majority of Texas' close loss to the then-No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide, completing 14-of-22 passes for 158 yards in relief of Ewers. Card then started Texas' next three games, leading the Longhorns to victory in 2-of-3 while throwing for six touchdowns with just one interception.

He'll be a junior quarterback in 2023, and will undoubtedly be one of the hottest prospects in the transfer portal.
