College football truly is the sport that has you on your toes at all times, as in the midst of Texas making major transfer portal additions they ended up losing a recruit from their 2024 recruiting class.

According to reports, four-star defensive tackle D'antre Robinson out of Orlando, Florida is expected to ask Texas to release him from his National Letter of Intent.

On3's Gerry Hamilton reported the development on Sunday, indicating that the Longhorns losing defensive line coach Bo Davis to LSU has played a major factor in the decision.

“(Robinson) had talked to Steve Sarkisian five times since the news of Bo Davis leaving hit,” Hamilton said on The Inside Scoop on Sunday. “I will say this, he’s definitely considering asking for a release from his National Letter of Intent, that’s definitely in play.”

Hamilton explained that were it not for Davis, Robinson likely would have ended up at in-state power, Florida.

“That’s who he had connected with,” Hamilton said. “That’s who he had the relationship with, that was his guy and that was a big reason when he committed July 20th, he said the development with Bo Davis was a huge piece for his decision to go to Texas over Florida at the time.”

Losing Davis was certainly a blow that the Longhorns knew could possibly hurt them, and this is the first example.

Under Davis' tutelage, both T'Vondre Sweat and Bryon Muprhy II emerged as two of the best defensive tackles in the country, and Texas as a whole had one of the best run defenses in the country as well.

While losing Robinson hurts, the Longhorns did bring in three other defensive linemen in their class, and will also have names like Alfred Collins and Vernon Broughton ready to slide into the starting roles.
