Texas Tech will reportedly induct late coach Mike Leach into Hall of Honor
The college football world, and the world in general, lost head coach Mike Leach due to complications related to a heart condition in December 2022.
Leach was the head coach at Mississippi State at the time and the Bulldogs are sure to honor his memory and imprint on the program for as long as there is Mississippi State football. College football's "pirate" truly left his mark in Starkville.
The same can be said for Lubbock, Texas, though, where Leach arguably made his name and developed his reputation as the entertaining yet dangerously effective head football coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders from 2000 to 2009.
For his time at Texas Tech, it's being reported that the Red Raiders will honor Leach posthumously and induct him into their Hall of Honors. Former Tech head coach and quarterback Kliff Kingsbury is expected to be inducted as well this September.
Texas Tech was Leach's first head coaching job in college football and he brought his version of the "Air Raid" to Lubbock and made the team extremely fun to watch offensively. He also won a ton of games for Tech, going 84-43 and winning five of his nine bowl game appearances.
Leach had eight years at Washington State sandwiched in between his time at Texas Tech and Mississippi State. His overall record as a college head coach was 158-107.
