TJ Finley likely to start for injured LSU QB Myles Brennan vs. Auburn
It appears the LSU Tigers will be without starting quarterback Myles Brennan once again.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron told reporters on Wednesday that Brennan is doubtful for Saturday's game against the Auburn Tigers due to the undisclosed lower-body injury that sidelined him for last Saturday's 52-24 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Brennan was unofficially questionable earlier in the week, but Orgeron lacked optimism when updating his QB's status.
"I don't believe he's going to play, but things could change this week," Orgeron explained, per an ESPN story.
Orgeron previously stated Brennan wouldn't have played against the Florida Gators on Oct. 17 because of the injury had that game not been postponed due to coronavirus-related issues.
Freshman TJ Finley received the keys to the offense last weekend and completed 17-of-21 passes for 265 yards with two touchdowns, an interception, 24 rushing yards and a score on the ground in his team's second win of the campaign that improved LSU to 2-2 overall.
Finley received high praise from Orgeron shortly after the victory over South Carolina.
"The thing I was most impressed with was his poise," Orgeron said of Finley on Wednesday while adding that offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger may expand the playbook for the Auburn game because Finley, theoretically, should be more comfortable facing a live defense.
"He was so confident."
Auburn traded wins and losses over the first five weeks of the campaign and improved to a 3-2 mark on the year with a 35-28 win over the Ole Miss Rebels last Saturday.
