Just a few days after New Mexico State formally introduced new head coach Tony Sanchez, the Aggies make a splash in the transfer portal.

Saturday afternoon saw former Kentucky and Iowa quarterback Deuce Hogan commit to the New Mexico State Aggies. He posted his commitment to his X profile with the words "Officially an Aggie!" and a photo of him with Sanchez. Hogan spent 2020 and 2021 with Iowa, then 2022 and 2023 with Kentucky.

With one appearance at Iowa and three at Kentucky, Hogan has a career total of eight pass attempts, completing seven of them for 21 yards.

Hogan is a native of Southlake, Texas, measuring 6'4" and 217 pounds. While Hogan's college stats show he hasn't seen much of the field, his size and high school stats tell a story of potential.

Hogan threw for 8,192 yards with 100 touchdowns and 30 interceptions at the prep level. He was rated by 247Sports as the 15th-best pro-style quarterback in the nation in the Class of 2020.

Hogan's commitment comes at something of an ideal time for NMSU. 2023 starting quarterback and CUSA Offensive Player of the Year Diego Pavia entered the transfer portal following the news of head coach Jerry Kill's retirement. The Aggies also lost backups Blaze Berlowitz to Vanderbilt and Gavin Frakes to Virginia.

Hogan will be able to sign his National Letter of Intent will be February 7, 2024.
