Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is quite a few years removed from his college days but on Thursday, he finally received his diploma from the University of Cincinnati and looked like a well-seasoned frat star while doing it. The Super Bowl champion chugged then slammed a can of beer after shaking hands with the dean on stage with his brother, Jason, and his parents, as well.
Travis and Jason hosted the New Heights podcast live from the Bearcats’ arena and they were honored with a surprise graduation ceremony.
“To all my fellow students … before we make this thing official, I thought I’d give you guys some advice,” Kelce said, adding, “Fight For Your Right.” “You gotta fight. For your right. To PAAAAAAARTY!”
The Kelce brothers, both Super Bowl champions with their respective NFL teams, never walked the stage at Cincinnati graduation. Travis shared that because he lost a helmet during his playing days for the Bearcats and never returned it, he wasn’t able to walk at graduation.
The Cincinnati social media pages announced their newest honorees: “A surprise commencement we’ll never forget. Congratulations to Travis and Jason on (finally) picking up those diplomas!”
It’s been a huge years for the Kelces. From Travis dating Taylor Swift and winning another Super Bowl title, to Jason Kelce’s retirement after 13 seasons, the duo are on top of the world.
Jason Kelce retires from NFL after 13 seasons
Jason Kelce held a press conference last month to officially announce his retirement after 13 seasons in the NFL. The lineman hosted the press conference at the Eagles facility with friends, family, coaches and teammates in attendance.
Kelce put together a decorated career for the Eagles after they selected him in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Cincinnati. He became a six-time All-Pro selection and a seven-time Pro Bowler as a key part of the Philadelphia offensive line and he seemed to get better and better with age.
After earning All-Pro First Team honors in 2017, Kelce helped the Eagles clinch a victory in Super Bowl LII, defeating the New England Patriots 41–33. It took several seasons but he made it back to the Super Bowl with Philadelphia in 2022, but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, and his brother Travis. He toyed with retirement after that loss but opted to return for another chance at the Lombardi Trophy in 2023.
