Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton just put together solid performances at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. While Georgia is certainly happy to see a couple of its running backs performing well in preparation for the draft, their departures create a void in Georgia's running back depth chart.

Kirby Smart and his staff addressed that void earlier this offseason, bringing in former Florida running back Trevor Etienne through the transfer portal. Etienne, the No. 2 ranked running back in this year's portal, discussed his decision to transfer to Georgia on Georgia offensive lineman Tate Ratledge's show "Real Talker Player Podcast".

"I mean, for me, it was like, does the good outweigh the bad, you know? I really, I've been with Florida for two years, I went through that whole like, process of rebuilding, it was kind of still rebuilding. And I felt like there was a lot of uncertainties, like a lot of questions were unanswered you know, there was a lot of unknown going on."

Even averaging over six yards per touch, Etienne was backing up Florida running back Montrell Johnson. The prospect of being a backup on a losing team didn't appeal to Etienne.

"I feel like I can stay [at Florida] and do what I've been doing for another year or two or you know, bet on myself and take a chance somewhere else. So you know, pretty much to sum it up it was like I can either be running back two on a losing team or go somewhere where like, I wanted to play in December too. That also played a big part in me transferring. "

Playing significant games in December is certainly something Georgia can offer. The Bulldogs have played in six of the last seven SEC Championships and won two of the last three national championships. Florida has yet to make the College Football Playoff.

"So I could stay, be running back two on a losing team or go somewhere and you know, possibly [be] running back one and win a natty."
