Trevor Lawrence announces he's leaving Clemson, declares for NFL Draft

Jacksonville Jaguars fans can officially get excited about the possibility of the franchise drafting Trevor Lawrence. The standout Clemson quarterback announced via social media that he is leaving the school and declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft after falling to Ohio State 49-28 in the Sugar Bowl.

"Looking back on it, I hope my legacy at Clemson is that I was a great teammate and a great person, overall. More than football, more than how I played each game is just how I treated people." Lawrence said in the video. "I want that to be the main thing I'm known for and I feel like, over the last three years, that's the thing I've kept as a priority. Just treating people well and being a good person, so I hope that's my legacy when I leave here."

In three seasons at Clemson, Lawrence lost just two games: the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship Game against the LSU Tigers and this season's Sugar Bowl against Ohio State.

The junior quarterback completed 69.2% of his passes this season for 3,153 yards and 24 touchdowns against five interceptions. It wasn't his best statistical season, though he did miss time after testing positive for COVID-19.

In total, Lawrence completed 66.6% of his passes for 10,098 yards and 90 touchdowns against 17 interceptions with the Tigers. He also rushed for 943 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Lawrence finished second in voting for the Heisman Trophy this season, which is college football's most prestigious award.

The 21-year-old enters the NFL Draft as the projected No. 1 overall pick, which is owned by the Jaguars. If selected, he'll become Jacksonville's face of the franchise for a very long time.
