Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence released a video on Wednesday confirming that he was planning to enter the 2021 NFL Draft.

The move was expected and wasn’t surprising to those who had been following his career for the past three years.

Upon announcing that his time with the Tigers was coming to an end, Lawrence took a moment to reflect on his legacy.

“My time here has been amazing, and I’ll be a Clemson Tiger forever,” he said in the video.

And ‘amazing’ it objectively was. Lawrence led his program to a national championship as a freshman in 2018. He ended up winning his first 25 starts for Clemson before ultimately falling to LSU in last year’s title game.

In his three years with the Tigers, Lawrence always made it to the College Football Playoff.

In recognition of his quarterback’s accomplishments, head coach Dabo Swinney called Lawrence “the greatest winner I’ve been around.”

“Looking back on it, I hope my legacy is that I was a great teammate and a great person overall, more than how I played,” Lawrence said.

“It’s how I treated people. I want that to be the main thing I’m known for.”

Lawrence is expected to be taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars (and possibly Urban Meyer) with the top overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.
