West Virginia has officially retained two key pieces of the defense as linebackers Ben Cutter and Trey Lathan have committed to working with Country Roads Trust for the 2024 season.

Lathan won the starting WILL linebacker job initially but moved to MIKE and played extremely well at both positions. In just five games this season, Lathan recorded 27 tackles, seven QB hits, two pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one tackle for loss. He played a massive role in West Virginia's pass rushing numbers early on in the year, creating plays for others.

Unfortunately, his season came to an end when he suffered a lower leg injury during the win at TCU. He underwent successful surgery and has been working his way back ever since.

His injury opened up the door for his fellow linebacker and Trust commit, Ben Cutter. The true freshman started every game following Lathan's injury and played at a high level down the stretch. He finished the season with 51 tackles, six tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup.

Others that have committed to the Trust:

RB Jahiem White

OL Wyatt Milum

OL Brandon Yates

OL Tomas Rimac

OL Johnny Williams IV

OL Nick Malone

OL Nick Krahe

WR Rodney Gallagher III

WR Traylon Ray

WR Preston Fox

LB Josiah Trotter
