UCLA student section to make Bruins history vs. No. 8 USC
Who remembers those pictures from the Rose Bowl early on in the season when UCLA barely squeaked by a win over South Alabama.
You know, those ones where seemingly six people were at the game?
And no, this wasn't the little league game at halftime. This was a real-life college football game featuring one of the more storied universities in college sports.
As they say, winning is a deodorant and it rights all wrongs. Since that near loss to South Alabama, Chip Kelly's Bruins have gone on to win five of their last seven games, including victories over No. 15 Washington, No. 11 Utah and Stanford.
At 8-2, UCLA has certainly been playing good football. That sets up a matchup between the No. 12 Bruins and No. 8 USC this weekend in the battle for Rose Bowl superiority.
It should be a good game if each team's ranking has any amount of truth behind it — and it turns out UCLA fans do actually exist.
How do we know?
Well, they're actually thinking about showing up to this game.
USC is a good team, but the Trojans can be beaten. Their lone loss this season came to No. 20 Utah, which UCLA beat, mind you.
It's worth noting that at least statistically, this is also a pretty even matchup.
UCLA scores 39.5 points per game, while USC puts up 42.4. The Bruins allow 26.4 points per game, while the Trojans give up 24.4.
It should be a good game, which will be made even better by fans and students of UCLA actually showing up to watch.
