USC football safety Calen Bullock took the next step in the NFL Draft process by working out at USC's Pro Day on Wednesday.
At his Pro Day, Bullock, who calls the draft process "exciting," did the bench press, vertical jump and broad jump, recording eight bench reps, a 33" vertical and a 10" vertical. Bullock did not run the 40-yard dash today, but impressed with a 4.48 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine several weeks ago.
With the Pro Day finished, one of the next huge events for Bullock will be getting drafted. However, Bullock is not planning to attend the NFL Draft, even if he is invited. Instead, Bullock plans to celebrate with his family.
"Planning on staying home with my family," Bullock told reporters, including All Trojans, after the Pro Day. "I want to enjoy the moment with my family, because they've been there since I was little ... it's a dream come true. So I wanna be there around all my family."
At the Pro Day, Bullock also broke down part of his game, referring to himself as a smooth, tall, and lanky safety. He also has the ability to play cornerback, having done so his freshman season, but is entering the draft as a safety.
With Bullock set to become an NFL rookie soon, he revealed several of the pro safeties he admires, which included former Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons and Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker.
"I don't think there's too many safeties whose body is built like mine and can move around like me, but I watch a lot of guys such as Justin Simmons and Budda Baker, all the top guys," Bullock said. "I just try to take pieces from their game."
Simmons and Baker are two great safeties to learn from, even if Bullock brings his own unique skillset and ability. Combined, Simmons and Baker have made seven first or second All-Pro teams and been to eight Pro Bowls. On his part, Bullock accumulated nine interceptions and 16 pass break-ups during his last three years at USC, while earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors.
