Lincoln Riley continues to build his dream team.

North Dakota State head coach Matt Entz is leaving NDSU to join Riley’s staff at USC, the Trojans announced this week. Entz will be serving as USC’s assistant head coach for defense as well as their linebackers coach.

Entz, 51, had spent the last five seasons at North Dakota State and enjoyed significant success. He went a blistering 60-10 (.857) overall and led them to two FCS championships (including with Trey Lance at the controls in 2019).

Now Entz makes a big move to a major program and just in time for USC’s move to the Big Ten next year to boot.

The Trojans were a sizable disappointment this year, tabbed as a potential CFP contender before the season only to finish 7-5 and have to settle for a Holiday Bowl berth.

While USC will most likely have to rebound next season without superstar QB Caleb Williams, Entz now joins a formidable coaching staff that also recently added a prominent figure from a rival school.
