Utah's defense was decimated in the game against Arizona with three players out, while the rest of the team seemed relatively sluggish in the loss.

Some light has been shed on the reasoning behind it by Coach Whittingham who is known not to make any excuses following a loss and surprisingly, injuries weren't the problem this time around.

On Monday, Coach Whitt said, “Well, there is a flu bug going around on top of everything else." He continued by saying, “So, today if we had to play today, we’d probably be shy a dozen guys. Hopefully, we can get some of those guys back before the weekend.”

The lineup for the final game of the season against Colorado might be affected based on how quickly the players recover. However, let's hope that this will not be the case as fans probably don't want to see a repeat of the game in Arizona. Despite only having 3 players *officially* out in the game last Saturday, it might as well have been more as the players were fighting the sickness as best as they could, and it showed on the field.

In a season that has been riddled with unwelcome circumstances, this latest obstacle just adds to the myriad of a "what could have been" season. Luckily, with one game left to go, bar no more unexpected incidences, the Utes and Coach Whittingham can fully appreciate how they pulled through to manage a winning season in such circumstances and look forward to next season with limitless aspirations.
