USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday, it was reported by 247Sports' Steve Bartle, that Utah defensive back and four-year starter JaTravis Broughton will be entering his name into the transfer portal.

He was quite productive for the Utes, as he accumulated 29 career starts in 46 appearances. In this season alone, he recorded 11 starts, totaling 36 tackles, two pass breakups, and a tackle for loss.

With his departure, Utah has now lost a total of 14 players to the transfer portal with six of the departures hailing from the secondary. Aside from receiver which has clearly been made a priority in the portal, the Utes will likely also target defensive backs heavily in order to bolster this unit again.

As a recruit, Broughton was ranked as a three-star out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He held six offers according to 247Sports, and chose Utah over programs such as Oregon, Army, Rice, and Stephen F. Austin.
