Utah student arrested for allegedly threatening to detonate nuclear reactor if team lost

There seems to be something strange in the water on the University of Utah campus.

Just one week after it was reported that university police were investigating two women who attended the Utes football game against Southern Utah topless, another incident is now making headlines. According to an ESPN report, a Utah student was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly threatening to detonate a nuclear reactor on campus if the football team lost to San Diego State over the weekend.

The Utes ended up soundly defeating the Aztecs, 35-7.

"According to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office, the 21-year-old student is accused of making a threat of terrorism. She was booked and released Wednesday," the report said. "The woman allegedly posted on social media that, if the Utes lost Saturday's game, she would "detonate the nuclear reactor that is located in the University of Utah causing a mass destruction," according to a police affidavit obtained by KSL. Police said in the affidavit that the woman had information about the reactor and had attended classes in the same building it is located."

Utah will head back on the road in search of their third straight victory, when they take on Arizona State at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
