Wake Forest 2 Week Recap and Week 3 Preview

Wake Forest Week 1

With high expectations for Wake Forest this year things got off to a rough start as star quarterback Sam Hartman was ruled out for undisclosed reasons. Prep for week 1 against VMI now took a turn as the game could be a disaster with backup Mitch Griffis playing. Above all the game however ended with the same results with a backup quarterback in fact Wake Forest completed a 44-11 blowout victory. As a result, the defense stepped up big only allowing 139 passing yards and 83 rushing yards to a well-disciplined team.

Wake Forest Week 2

After that win the team would be ranked #23. Meanwhile, going into this new week Sam Hartman was still a question to play. On September 6th, news broke that he had been dealing with blood clots preventing him from playing. He was now going to be able to start against Vanderbilt.  Vanderbilt was 2-0 coming off a blowout week 0 game in Hawaii. Then a 11-point victory over Elon at home. Any SEC vs ACC game is important no matter the teams, because just how well known the power 5 conferences are. In addition, on this occasion Wake Forest started the game off slow, until an INT TD changed the tide, which got the momentum back. Hartman began slinging the rock all over the field throwing for 300 yards with 4 TDs. The final score was 45-25 making Wake a team to be looked at as a contender.

Wake Forest Week 3

Meanwhile, following a 45-25 victory over Vanderbilt the Demon Deacons look forward to furthermore keep the train moving against a 2-0 red hot Liberty Flames team. Having victories over Southern Miss and UAB, Liberty has been in two close battles not giving up many points. The Liberty Flames have one of the best pass defenses in the country only allowing 125 passing yards a game this season. Wake now have star quarterback Sam Hartman back, offensively now more of a passing attack. It could pose a challenge as Wake will look to pass the ball against no matter the defense. Hartman and his receivers are hot coming off 300 yards passing against an SEC team on the road.

Prediction

The current betting lines for the game are at Wake Forest -16.5 Over/Under 63.5. I personally believe that Wake Forest is ready to show out against this highly rated passing defense. In conclusion, the final score will be 45-28, a high scoring shootout that the Flames just cannot handle.
