Watch: Blunder on FG call costs Iowa State in loss to Ohio

Iowa State fell to Ohio, 10-7, on Saturday in a matchup marred by a mistake by officials that potentially cost the Cyclones a chance at earning a win.

With Iowa State trailing Ohio 10-0 with 7:23 left in the fourth quarter, Cyclones kicker Chase Contreraz appeared to cut the deficit to seven after nailing a 37-yard field goal, squeezing it inside the right goalpost.

However, officials ruled the kick was no good, giving the Bobcats possession at their own 19-yard line with their 10-point lead intact.

A possession later, Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht connected with wideout Daniel Jackson for a 39-yard touchdown to finally put the Cyclones on the board with 4:15 left. Yet, due to the blunder by officials on the Cyclone's prior field goal attempt, Jackson's score didn't tie the game.

After the touchdown, Iowa State's defense forced an Ohio punt, but on the ensuing Cyclone possession, Becht was intercepted on the first play, ending their comeback hopes.

On top of falling to 1-2 on the year after the loss to Ohio, it was a rough day for Iowa State overall. Ahead of Saturday's contest, several players and offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhasse came down with a case of food poisoning.
