Freshman quarterback Bo Nix is an electric young player, but his inexperience bit Auburn bad in the second quarter Saturday against Oregon.

Two plays after Nix threw a gorgeous 28-yard strike to Harold Joiner, he committed a cardinal sin, throwing across his body scrambling to the left sideline. The end result was an atrocious red-zone interception, hauled in by Oregon’s Thomas Graham Jr.

Nix cannot make that throw. The fact he did it in the red zone hurts all the more. Instead of attempting a field goal at the least, the Tigers gave the ball back to an Oregon offense that’s been practically unstoppable so far in this game.
