The Ohio State Buckeyes' defense is even getting in on the fun.

Ohio State cornerback Denzel Burke came from his spot in coverage and, in textbook fashion, puts his helmet on the ball, forcing running back Davion Ervin-Poindexter to fumble. The ball shot into the end zone and linebacker Steele Chambers had a chance to recover it, and after a scrum, defensive tackle Tyleik Williams came up with the football to give Ohio State a 49-10 lead over the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

The score marks the first defensive touchdown for the Buckeyes this season and the first since Chambers recovered a fumble from Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa to prevent the Terrapins from pulling off an upset Nov. 19, 2022.

Chambers made up for the dropped fumble in the end zone one drive later, intercepting Western Kentucky quarterback Austin Reed — his first pick since the Peach Bowl against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Ohio State's defense has forced three fumbles and has recovered two against the Hilltoppers. However, The Buckeyes' defense hasn't had to do much work with how potent their offense has looked.

Ohio State dropped 42 points on the Hilltoppers in the first half thanks in large part to Kyle McCord's three touchdown passes and nearly 300 yards through the air.

He hit Marvin Harrison Jr. on a 75-yard fly route and Emeka Egbuka on 14- and 15-yard touchdowns.

Running back TreVeyon Henderson has scored two touchdowns and Chip Trayanum ran 40 yards for his first touchdown as a Buckeye.
