Watch: James Madison coach brings out cell phone to complain about call

The James Madison coaching staff resorted to extreme measures against Utah State on Saturday night, as one member pulled out a cell phone to try and show the on-field officials that the previous play was out of bounds.

The referees, of course, were not prepared to allow that to happen as using a cell phone on the sidelines is pretty strictly against the rules.

Especially when trying to prove to the referees that they are not doing a good job.

Have a look.

You can not do that.

The play in question was a fake field goal run by Utah State on fourth down that ended up going for a touchdown. James Madison was convinced that kicker Elliott Nimrod had stepped out of bounds and emphatically tried to prove their point.

The play was eventually reviewed and the touchdown call was upheld.
It is not the first time players or coaches have gone to such extreme measures.

During the 2022-23 NBA season Los Angeles Lakers Patrick Beverley got a technical foul for bringing a camera out on to the court to dispute a call. And who could ever forget former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher shoving a picture into the pocket of a referee during a game back in the 1995 NFL season
