Following what was their best season since 2009, the Texas Longhorns have seen a large chunk of their core players declare for the NFL Draft.

The group that was hit the hardest in terms of talent departing is the wide receivers. Both Adonai Mitchell who transferred in from Georgia and Xavier Worthy are viewed as possible first-round picks, but Texas fans know well enough to not sleep on former five-star Jordan Whittington. While he doesn't have the most gaudy numbers, he does everything the right way and will surely carve out a role for himself in the NFL.

According to Draft Network's Keith Sanchez Whittington is a projected day-three pick. The now-former Longhorn was a fan favorite, which was evident in the reaction to the latest hype video that his social media account released.

This past season he racked up 42 catches for 505 yards, while also adding one touchdown. He walks away from his Texas career, which at one point was heavily plagued by injuries having recorded 141 catches for 1,757 yards, and five touchdowns. He also was a threat in the run game, recording seven rushing attempts for 76 yards and a rushing touchdown.

His five-year career was the epitome of determination, being that he considered walking away from football after the injury bug kept dialing in on him. Instead, he stuck with it and ended up being a leader for the team, and will eventually find himself on an NFL roster whether he is drafted or not in this year's NFL Draft.
