Watch: Northern Illinois kicker scores on incredible fake field goal

Northern Illinois is pulling out all of the stops to try and win the Camellia Bowl and hit Arkansas State with a perfectly planned and called fake field goal that resulted in kicker Kanon Woodill scoring a 33-yard touchdown.

Have a look.

This is one of the great things about college bowl season. Is the Camellia Bowl one of the major games? No. It features two 6-6 teams from small conferences that are full of players who will not play football beyond college. But they can still be fun, and they inspire teams to draw up plays like this.

This was an especially bold fake field goal call given that Northern Illinois was 33 yards from the end zone and it was a fourth-and-four play call. Not exactly the situation or spot on the field that most teams would put the ball in the hands of their kicker. The Huskies coaching staff saw something it could exploit on film and had the perfect play for it. It was also a great piece of running by Woodill to follow his blocks, find the lane and sprint into the end zone.

Woodill did not get to kick an extra point after his touchdown, however, as the Huskies went for two (and were successful) to extend their lead to 21-10 over Arkansas State.
