Watch: Pick-six gives Kansas early lead against No. 6 Oklahoma

Junior cornerback Ra'Mello Dotson intercepted a pass from Sooners quarterback Dillon Gabriel and returned it 37 yards for the first touchdown of the game. Associated Press No. 6 Oklahoma (7-0, 4-0 in Big 12) entered the game a seven-point favorite and has won 18 consecutive games against Kansas (5-2, 2-2 in Big 12).

The Jayhawks are without starting quarterback Jalon Daniels, the preseason pick for offensive player of the year by Big 12 media members. Backup Jason Bean has performed well in starts the two previous seasons against the Sooners, including in last year's 52-42 loss in Norman when he had 306 total yards and four touchdowns.

While the offense should be able to move the ball against Oklahoma, the score by the defense is a massive revelation. Kansas ranks 84th in scoring defense (27.4 points allowed per game), and its ability to not only keep Oklahoma out of the end zone but add points of its own significantly increases Kansas's chances of pulling off the monumental upset.

Its last win in the series, in 1997, was the third consecutive for the Jayhawks. Since then, the games haven't been close. Last year's 10-point loss was the closest margin of defeat in their 18 consecutive losses.

Kansas added an offensive touchdown on a nine-yard run by running back Daniel Hishaw Jr., giving it a 14-0 lead.

The Jayhawks are playing well enough early to win their first game in the series since Boyz II Men had the No. 1 song in the U.S. ("4 Seasons of Loneliness") and Ashley Judd was in the top film at the box office ("Kiss The Girls.")

If it can't win this year, those "Boyz" might be senior citizens by the time Kansas gets another chance at beating Oklahoma. The Sooners are leaving the Big 12 at the end of the season for the SEC and don't have Kansas on any of their future schedules.
