Watch: Shedeur, Deion Sanders' son, launches a football 'over them mountains'

Napoleon Dynamite's uncle, Rico, once made a bet that he could throw a football "over them mountains".

He was, of course, embellishing a bit and romanticizing his apparently stellar high school football career, but there is one real-life quarterback at least who'd be able to take Rico up on his bet.

That quarterback is new Colorado signal-caller Shedeur Sanders, who recently transferred to the Buffaloes from Jackson State University when his dad, Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, became the new head coach in Boulder.

Here's a video of the younger Sanders apparently getting some practice in. Notably, he's practicing "on air" and it's not like he's dealing with a pass rush or any sort of defenders to speak of — but a throw like this one is hard to ignore no matter the situation:

Sanders still has to prove he can play at the FBS, just like his dad still has to prove that he can coach in the Pac-12 compared to the Southwestern Athletic Conference, but it's worth noting that both are bringing a track record of success to Colorado.

Deion Sanders went 26-2 as head coach at Jackson State. Shedeur, who has multiple years of eligibility left, threw for 3,732 yards and 40 touchdowns with just six interceptions this past season for the Tigers.

He also rushed for six scores on the ground.
