Watch: Utah sinks USC again with walk-off field goal

The Utah Utes are quite the thorn in the side of the USC Trojans.

After beating USC twice during the 2022 season to help knock USC out of the College Football Playoff, the Utes delivered another crushing blow to their conference rivals on Saturday night with a 34-32 win that was capped off with a 38-yard walk-off field goal from Cole Becker.

This was a wild game that saw Utah jump out to a 28-17 lead going into the fourth quarter, only to watch as USC's Caleb Williams led a fourth quarter comeback that saw the Trojans score twice in the final three minutes of regulation to take the lead.

But Utah was able to respond with an 11-play, 54-yard drive that resulted in Becker's game-winning kick,.

This is a huge win for the No. 14 Utes as they improve to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Pac-12. It will no doubt send them further up the national rankings and helps put them in the driver's seat for a potential spot in the Pac-12 Championship game.

As for USC, this is just another crushing loss at the hands of Utah and gives the Trojans their second loss in a row. It might even result in them falling out of the top-25, continuing what has been a stunning drop down the rankings over the past couple of weeks.

USC's schedule is not going to get any easier from here as three of its final four games are against ranked opponents, including No. 5 Washington, No. 9 Oregon and No. 25 UCLA.

It would almost certainly have to run the table in those games to another crack at the Pac-12 Championship game.

The Trojans were positioned for a spot in last year's college football playoff had they simply defeated Utah in the Pac-12 Championship game. But they were blown out by Utah by a 47-24 margin, sending them instead to the Cotton Bowl. That came after Utah won a 43-42 game earlier in the regular season.
