Watch: Vanderbilt long snapper Wesley Schelling scores touchdown on wild play

Vanderbilt long snapper Wesley Schelling got a moment he will never forget on Saturday against the Florida Gators.

Schelling scored his first career collegiate touchdown when he sprinted down the field on punt coverage and recovered a Florida fumble in the end zone to extend the Commodores' lead.

It's such a wild play because there is almost no opportunity for a player in Schelling's position (a long snapper!) to ever score a touchdown. It is going to require a wild sequence of events, all taking place on the exact right spot of the field to ever be in that position.

In this case: It was a muffed punt by Gators return man Jason Marshall Jr. that rolled into the end zone.

Schelling was not only able to sprint more than 60 yards down the field on punt coverage, but somehow emerge from the pile with the football.

Long snapping is probably the most thankless job in football because when it is done well, nobody ever notices it and it gets taken for granted. But it is not an easy job, and when it gets messed up it is usually a big moment blooper that can be costly for teams.

In this case, Schelling not only did his job perfectly well, he got rewarded with a rare touchdown.
