We don't know Bo: How No. 10 Oregon, Bo Nix proved doubters wrong with win over No. 9 UCLA

We thought we knew Bo Nix

He was going to be another highly regarded high school prospect that didn't pan out at the college level. It's happened before and it will happen again. Just as everyone was ready to close the book on Nix, he put on a performance that ensures the remainder of this season isn't an epilogue.

No. 10 Oregon Ducks (6-1, 4-0 in Pac-12) won handily, 45-30 against No. 9 UCLA (6-1, 3-1 in Pac-12) and were led by their transfer QB. Nix played three seasons at Auburn before taking advantage of the NCAA's relaxed transfer rules this past offseason, entering the transfer portal and landing in Eugene.

The hype surrounding his arrival was snuffed out after a bleak Week 1 loss to defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs. They lost that game 49-3 and looked undeserving of their Associated Press preseason No. 11 ranking.

Instead of having that loss set the tone for their season, the Ducks have rebounded in resounding fashion. They are on a six-game winning streak and in a prime position to compete for a Pac-12 championship. Nix has been a huge reason why. He's averaging career-bests in completion percentage (70.4 percent), yards per attempt (8.2) and yards per game (254.3).

We thought we knew Oregon.

The Ducks were going to be another highly regarded team in the preseason that didn't pan out in the regular season. It's happened before and it will happen again. If it's true that a team takes on the personality of its best player, the Ducks are doing just that.
