RB Anthony Tyus III

Height: 6'1" Weight: 207 lbs

Hometown: Portage, MI

High school: Portage Northern

Power Five Offers:

Michigan State, Indiana, Iowa State, Northwestern

Group of Five Offers:

Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Air Force, University of Buffalo, University of Toledo, Kent State

Why he chose Northwestern:

Tyus told Michigan Live, "Going to a top-15 schools and sports and then obviously a top-10 school in academics, that’s just a dream come true; you can ask for anything better than that,” he added. “I’m just blessed and honored to be able to pursue my dream of going to the NFL, and then also becoming a doctor.

Evaluation:

Tyus has given himself the nickname “A-Train” and for good reason. He has great size for a running back and will be one of the bigger backs on Northwestern’s roster. He has the power and physicality to break through tackles in the open field like a freight train booming down the tracks.

He also has impressive burst and acceleration for someone of his size. Tyus uses that burst to quickly squeeze through any seams he can find in the defense. His shiftiness and general ability to change speeds makes him a huge threat off the handoff or catch.

Speaking of which, he can easily develop into being more of a threat in the passing game as well because of his smooth hands. He showed that he's more than capable of running routes and making plays off the catch at the high school level.

Playing time projection:

With two of the top running backs returning from last season in sophomore Cam Porter and redshirt sophomore Evan Hull, plus a few other backs who will also be vying for extra snaps, it is likely Tyus will only receive a limited amount of opportunities this year. That being said, it would be no surprise if he moves up the depth chart because of the size, burst and talent he brings to the position.
