WR Jacob Gill

Height: 6'0" Weight: 170 lbs

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

High school: Cardinal Gibbons

Power Five Offers:

NC State, Wake Forest University, Louisville, Northwestern

Group of Five Offers:

East Carolina Pirates, Appalachian State, UNC Charlotte

Evaluation:

Gill is a crafty wide receiver who is a straight-up playmaker with the ball in his hands. His ability to stop and start off the catch gives him all the separation he needs to get by his defender. He has solid open-field speed and his ability to change directions with ease helps him create something out of nothing. He’s also shown he can make long return runs on punts.

Where Gill has room to improve is in the weight room. He would benefit from adding muscle and strength to his six-foot frame. The added muscle would make it easier for him to consistently break through tackles after the catch.

Overall, Gill is a very shifty playmaker who keeps his defenders on their toes while he’s running his route and after the catch with his quickness and agility. He has all the potential to become a staple in Northwestern’s offense for years to come.

Playing time projection:

After losing three of their top options last season to the NFL Draft and transfer portal, Northwestern will be searching for answers at the wide receiver position. For Gill, this means he should get a chance to show what he can do on the field with the opportunity for more snaps at stake.
